Terms of Service
Last updated:
These terms are the agreement between you and Kuentas. By creating your account or accepting an invitation, you accept them. Read them carefully: they limit our liability.
1. Who offers Kuentas
Kuentas is a service of Lorenzo Wynberg, a person, in Costa Rica. There is no company behind it. For any question, write to soporte@kuentas.online.
2. What Kuentas is, and what it is not
Kuentas is a tool for keeping track of your money and seeing your situation at a glance. It is not an accounting, tax or invoicing system.
It does not issue electronic invoices (facturas electrónicas), does not file anything with Hacienda, and does not meet any legal bookkeeping or tax-filing requirement. Its numbers are not prepared for a tax return.
A receipt photo you save is a personal reference. It does not replace the electronic invoice or any document the law requires you to keep.
Meeting your obligations with Hacienda, or with any other authority, is your own responsibility, and that of your accountant.
Kuentas does not give accounting, tax, legal or financial advice.
3. How you get in
You get in by invitation only, and the service is free.
Each person uses their own account and looks after their password. You answer for what is done with your account.
Whoever invites others to a book decides what each of them can see and do.
4. Your records and your keys
Your records are yours. You alone are responsible for what you record, and for keeping your own exports and copies.
Your books are encrypted on your devices. It is up to you to keep your 12 words and your PIN: without them, Kuentas cannot recover what is encrypted.
5. Acceptable use
Use Kuentas for lawful purposes only. Do not try to get into other people's accounts or books, get around the service's limits, harm it or use it to send unwanted email.
6. Changes, suspension and end of the service
Kuentas may change, suspend or end the service, or any account or book, at any time; for example, if these terms are not followed. A disabled book no longer opens for its team.
You may stop using Kuentas whenever you like. To delete your account, use My account → “Delete my account”.
7. No warranty
Kuentas is offered “as is”, with no warranty of any kind: not that it will be available, not that its numbers are accurate, and not that no data is lost.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Kuentas is not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the service, including:
- lost data or lost access, for example if you forget your 12 words or your PIN;
- wrong numbers, calculations, balances or interest;
- decisions you make from what the app shows;
- downtime, or the failure of a third party (Vercel, Turso, Cloudflare, Resend).
Where a law does not allow a liability to be waived, this limit applies as far as that law allows. The other clauses still stand.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy says what data we process and how. It is part of these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The new version carries its date above; if the change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using Kuentas afterwards, you accept the new version.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Costa Rica. Any dispute is settled before the courts of Costa Rica.
